When I first came to visit StarPro Murray Hill with a referral from a close friend I could barely walk I was in so much pain from a disc extrusion at the L4/L5/S1 joint in my lower back. Literally was on the verge of tears almost every day. After working with Francis Abanilla for the last 3 months I am not only in zero pain but my posture has improved to the point where I feel better than I ever have. His attention to detail for each patient, the personal care taken, the very clearly tested back strengthening regimen he put me through were all an essential part of my recovery. If I could give this clinic an 11/10 I absolutely would. Everyone on the staff is fantastic and their camaraderie is palpable in the positive energy within the clinic itself. All PTs are not created equal and this is easily the best program I have ever been through. I don’t say this lightly and if you’re reading this review I wish you a speedy recovery as well.

If I could give 10 stars to this place I would- and it is all because of Francis and his very nice/attentive staff. I had a very big surgery (tore my ACL and meniscus 7 months ago)- Not only is he clearly knowledgable about the injury and provides effective exercises but he is patient, awesome energy, and is very motivating in this long recovery journey (can take up to a year if not more!). After working with Francis I feel confident to be active which can generally be hard for ACL recovery patients. Cannot recommend him enough!!!!

I had a successful experience with Ari Salami. She is attentive, kind, and professional, and was a great source of knowledge and support throughout my recovery process for pelvic pain therapy. I am very pleased with the results. I highly recommend her.

I did pelvic floor physical therapy with Ari after the birth of my son. At every session she took time to listen to all my concerns and give me very personalized exercises. I really appreciated her patience and professionalism!

I worked with Jenna and team for a lower back injury rehab and they were professional, warm, friendly and committed to individual care for all their patients.Every one of the staff members here seemed great and just a great experience in general. Very effective treatment plan as well specialized for my situation. Thanks so much Jenna and team!!

I had a wonderful experience working with Ari Salami at StarPro. She ensured I had a smooth recovery while being extremely professional and pleasant to be around. Would definitely recommend!

I've been treated by Francis Abanilla for the past 8 months at the Murray Hill StarPro location. I had a severe shoulder injury and in addition to a lot of pain I was unable to raise or extend my arm outward. Francis worked patiently with me to slowly build my strength and teach me how to use the muscles that were intact to increase my arm's functionality. He is a wonderful therapist and very caring person. He's always positive, upbeat, and encouraging and listens and responds to questions and concerns. He varies the activities whenever he can to keep it interesting. His knowledge and professionalism has enabled me to avoid shoulder surgery and do things I didn't think would be possible. The entire staff at StarPro are caring and supportive and I highly recommend them!

Jena earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Columbia University and her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health from the University of Washington. Her path to becoming a physical therapist grew out of her love of sports. Growing up, she was an athlete who played basketball, soccer, and track. When she tore her ACL playing basketball in high school, she was worried that she would not be able to get back to full strength, but her physical therapist helped her get back to where she was pre-injury. It is because of this personal experience that she utilizes a personalized approach for each patient to ensure they achieve their goals and get back to the life they want to live. Jena’s practice focuses on orthopedics and the treatment of sports injuries for patients of all ages. Additionally, she has become passionate about the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction, a problem that is much too common, yet often overlooked. She has furthered her knowledge of the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction by taking several continuing education courses through the Herman and Wallace Institute.

Bio

From a young age, I have always been passionate about healthcare and committed to helping others improve their quality of life. I wanted to contribute to the well-being of society, which led me to pursue a career in physical therapy, a field that I found to be both incredibly rewarding and impactful. After completing my bachelor's and master's degrees in physical therapy, I dedicated myself to continuing education to expand my knowledge and skills. Driven by a desire to further enhance my expertise, I chose to pursue a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, allowing me to take my career to the next level. With over seven years of clinical experience, I have had the privilege of working hands-on with patients, focusing on orthopedic rehabilitation and, more recently, pelvic floor therapy. Throughout my career, I have developed a deep understanding of musculoskeletal issues and their impact on patients’ functional mobility, as well as the specialized care needed for pelvic floor dysfunction. In addition to my professional training in physical therapy, I have always had a strong personal interest in exercise and wellness. This passion led me to become a certified yoga instructor, and I have integrated yoga-based techniques into my physical therapy practice to help patients improve flexibility, mobility, and overall healing. Today, my primary focus is on treating orthopedic and pelvic floor therapy patients. My diverse background in physical therapy, combined with my yoga training, allows me to provide a holistic approach to rehabilitation, helping my patients achieve their full potential and return to optimal health.
